Common Dishwasher Problems
The one dishwasher problem covered so far is standing water in the tub after a finished cycle, on Whirlpool models. Usually the fix is under the bottom rack. The filter there collects grease and food scraps, and it's the most common reason the water stays put. If water backs up into the kitchen sink while the dishwasher runs, the blockage is probably in the garbage disposal or the shared drain instead. If you just installed a new disposal, check whether the knockout plug was ever removed.

Seeing F9E1? That's Whirlpool's drain fault, and their support docs check the filter, then the drain hose, then the sink disposer, then the air gap, in that order. With no code, run the garbage disposal first if the dishwasher drains through it, then clean the filter under the bottom rack.

Switch the dishwasher off at the circuit breaker before removing the lower kick panel or reaching for the drain pump. A dark control panel doesn't mean the pump is unpowered.
